A memory

She grew up smart and pretty, i grew up dumb and ugly, we were like a pea in a pod, we had fun in the sun when we were young sticking out our tongues, that’s all it took for a smile in those days of happiness.

She was a fine specimen of a different ethnicity than me and i was the same, also different and mixed up but we didn’t care for our differences only thing that mattered was our friendship at the time.

Months and years flew by we grew in our separate directions until we lost each other; Spent months and years searching and thinking of her, until one day i found her and we connected like we have never lost each other, but i knew i had to let her go……

That is the end of that story.

Flávio Rodrigues, "I Am a Memory," proposed memorial project, 2012.
